A great introduction to cycling in Switzerland; mountain passes, exciting cities, clear lakes and authentic villages: you'll see it all during this multi-terrain adventure.

For experienced cyclists who want to discover touring or already enjoy the beauty of a multi-day trip and love to explore the backroads and journey along secluded paths. The days in the saddle are heroic, the food is nourishing and the lodges are all comfy.

You’re taking cycling back to the essentials: a bike, a sensational route to ride, and the self-imposed challenges that it brings.

Day-to-day breakdown.

  • Optional ride.

    Welcome to Switzerland! Or: ‘Grüezi’ as they say in this part of the country. You’ve had a long flight, time to take it easy. Today is your day, you decide what to do; wander around the town or have a nice power nap, it’s up to you.

    There’s an optional warm-up spin to shake out the legs and explore this beautiful hidden valley! Enjoy dinner in the hotel restaurant, Brasserie Konrad, before your head hits the pillow for a good night sleep.

  • Optional: 50 km / 1300 m

    Today is all about enjoying the food, drinks and surroundings in Engelberg. Sleep in or get started early. Have a relaxing breakfast, indulge yourself in local specialties and delicious coffee.

    Let's get to know the town, small mountain roads and enjoy the outdoors. Go for a hike or go for a ride, it's all up to you.

  • 85 km / 1500 m

    After the famous Ski Lodge breakfast we start with a pleasant descent with near-perfect pavement into the valley. This will bring us to a short climb to wake up those legs. Traversing around the mountain before opening up to a gorgeous view of the Vierwaldstättersee.

    We have the option of making a few extra miles (9) and elevation (1300ft) before heading into the beautiful city of Luzern.Sloping roads will lead us to a quiet valley to our next destination: Entlebuch.
    Welcome to the Biosphere.

    Hotel: Drei Könige

  • 75 km / 1300 m

    Phenomenal views of the Biosphere passing over smooth, winding roads. After a coffee stop we stay on small local roads, offering a good view of the surroundings.
    We stay in the Biosphere and ride on hidden roads, forests with fresh, oxygen-rich air and rural terrain.
    Follow the many trails through this majestic place and come back energised.
    After freshening up we head for drinks followed by dinner. Enjoy your well-deserved sleep in the hotel.

  • 70 km / 1600 m

    Having slept like kings & queens and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast, we head off for a full day of riding to Meiringen.

    We cycle through the beautiful countryside of central Switzerland.Our compass points south towards the town of Meiringen, we have the option of two different climbs to reach our next destination.

    We enjoy a comfortable hotel in the Mecca of cycling in Switzerland: Meiringen.

  • 80 km / 1500 m

    From Meiringen we venture into one of the most majestic, yet lesser-know climbs.
    An almost car-free road, we climb up to just under 2000 m elevation.
    The views are breathtaking, the roads are smooth.
    With a long descent we arrive in Interlaken for a healthy lunch. Follow the lake over rolling hills back to Meiringen. What a day!

  • 65 km / 1200 m

    This is the day we have some stunning lakeside views. Enough places to stop for coffee, takes some pictures and soak up all the beauty Switzerland has to offer.

    Our only real climb of the day is back into Engelberg. We’re back on our old stomping grounds and feel at home in the Ski Lodge.
    Welcome back, it’s been an amazing few days on the road, tonight we have our celebration dinner!

  • Optional ride.

    This is our final morning together before we part our ways. Time to say goodbye, or ‘Auf Wiedersehen’, until we meet again!

    You’re more than welcome to enjoy a late check-out, just let us know in advance. Enjoy breakfast and if you like, spin out the legs with an easy recovery ride through Engelberg.

Ready to ride?

Where you’ll sleep.

Start the day with a healthy, rich breakfast at the hotel. Along the way we stop at several spots to stay fuelled and enjoy coffee, “gipfeli” and lunch. Keep your energy levels high all day with the included ride nutrition.

After a solid day in the saddle we’ll rest up in beautiful locations along the route. Dinner is served in the accommodation or restaurants close by. All the hotels and lodges have been personally selected. Each with their own unique features, authenticity and high quality facilities and friendly staff.

You'll be able to relax, refuel and fully recover by the end of each day knowing you'll be enjoying a good night's sleep.

How to get there.

Car.

The drive from Amsterdam to Engelberg is around 8,5-9 hours. The distance is 865 km or 537 miles.

There’s free parking in front of the hotel, based on “first come, first served”. Share a car and make it easier on yourself and the environment.

We use Waze as our navigator through Europe. Quick, and easy.

Train.

Why drive when you can take the train? It’s just as fast and you can arrive completely relaxed.
We book our tickets through DB Navigator.

There’s a great connection with only 2 changes which brings you to the doorstep of the hotel in just 8 hours and 45 minutes. The train station is literally across the street from the hotel.
You can take your bike in a “soft bag” on the trains.

Airplane.

Prefer flying? You can either land at Basel Euro Airport (short bus ride to the station Basel SBB, bus #50, it's the only going from there) or in Zürich.
Excellent train connections take you about 1,5 hour to your destination: Engelberg.

Plan your train tickets in Switzerland on the SBB website. Look out for the sweet deals called “Super Saver” tickets.
